theyre really cracking down on the novelty helmet thing. a guy i work with got pulled over twice in 30 miles the other day.

I would wear one that resembles something close to a 'real?' DOT approved. Since that law was placed, no sense taking any chances getting hassled.

I'm going to bump this back up . I guess we are heading down to the Honda Meet on Wensday weather permitting (no front fender). How bad is the DOT helmet thing in North carolina? I hate wearing a diffrent helmet. I can't wait for this thing to happen. Seems like a bunch of great guys on this forum. Ill be goin negative on my vacation time if I leave on Wednesday, but its not a big deal. Id just rather keep on the up and up if I can hitch on with some other guys goin a little later. I plan on making it to the roost on Wed, Riding the twisties alot between wed and Saturday. Last year the bike show at the smokeout on Saturday was worth seeing and then we rode back to the roost for the auction. Plan on doing something similar this year.

Need some advice... Being new to both 750's and homebuilt choppers, a couple of us would like to ride down to NC and be able to take in both the WHCM and the Smokeout. Haven't been to either one before. Since they're the same weekend, anyone who has done it before, how did you work out your timing? Looks like they are about 60-70 miles apart... did you get a hotel in the middle somewhere or what? I need to start looking for a place for us to stay.
