Hey, y'all -- there's a cheap bike in my neck of the woods that one of you may be interested in. I was going to buy it, but I need another project
like a hole in the head. The bike is advertised in our local John Deere Community Swap Sheet. It is a 1978 Honda 750 with about 20,000 miles. The guy wants
$650 for it, but I think it can be had for less. It has a windjammer fairing complete with radio. It also has a huge king and queen seat. The bike runs fine
and seems to be in pretty good mechanical shape. The tank doesn't have any dents, and I believe it even has the original pipes. However, with that
fairing and the king/queen seat, the damn thing looks like a parade float. Frankly, I'd get rid of all the crap on it and chop it or part it out -- but

Well, I almost bought this bike but circumstances led me in a different direction. (A friend of mine is selling me a horse of a different color - to be unnamed
on this SOHC only forum - that is in better shape and runs well for a great price) I spoke with the seller several times and he was a bit skeptical since
he's talked to a lot of peeps several times and still hasn't sold his bike. The day I was going to drive up to get it, however, he told me another
fellow was coming over to look at it that night. Since it was a 3 hour trip each way, I told him I'd just as soon wait and see if the bike was still for
sale next week. Funny, his buyer never showed up. Now I'm buying another bike - his loss.
For what it's worth however, this '78 CB750 has potential. The worst thing I can tell (from the enclosed pic) and his testimony is that the carbs need a complete overhaul. He dropped the price to $500 too. I wish I were closer. Runners in rehab condition don't come up often at all.
It was Honda first, all through the middle, and if I have my way, till the end as well.
