I ordered a frame from cycle-x last week and Ken and his wife were great people to deal with.I explaned that I've never built a bike before and he stayed
on the phone with me for a long time although I could tell he had things to do and offered his help and advice any time I needed it.I know I will be getting
more parts and such from them in the future. Will post pictures when I get mock up in progress

Summers,
I tried going down that road of using a DOHC frame (all that was available locally) although I was going to use a SOHC motor in it. For the lack of a better phrase its about frustrating as all holy hell and at the end of the day there is about so much fabricating and messing around and lack of info out there about the DOHC frame that to me it didnt seem worth the aggravation and hassle. I dare say if you were an experienced frame person you could make it work somehow. But if your somewhat new to modifying a frame the best bet is a custom frame. I took the easy way out as it also gives me more of the look I am after anyway. More money but at least you know you are riding on something that is put together right and isnt going to come apart on you. Just my 02 worth but there are some very experienced and much, much more knowledgable people than I who may be able to help. Ian. |
