Is there anything you can put on the rubber boots themselves that will keep them from drying out and cracking?
thanks

you can boil them in wintergreen oil..it softens them up and they stay soft for quite along time..dtmmil did the ones on my bike, and that stuff smell great

because it is based on a petroleum solvent, not natural oils like the wintergreen. I wonder if Turpentine lightly would do it?
I just take mine off in the winter and toss them in the pot, just did some the other day, but I need to find something that will resurrect the airbox boots, those beauties do not like wintergreen at all. and THIS is where I get it, 2 or 3 at a time saves when you figure shipping. I use one bottle (4 oz) and a little less than a gal of water, got an old ss pot from the dollar store and use it just for this. 1/2hour on a simmer, not a rolling boil, and I can usually do 3 sets in a pot then pitch the stuff, if I have more than 3 sets to do I will break it down to so much per 4 oz bottle. This stuff will poison a city water suppply so use caution around it, it will poison you too!!

Priced wintergreen today, holy mother, CRAP! $7.00 for a small bottle. I asked the lady if she had pints but she didn't see the humor. Plan "B"?

$3.85 for a 4 oz bottle on amazon.com .With $4.25 shipping is still one of the better prices I've
seen as opposed to $5+ for 1oz or less......................

Anyone have a good source for a new set of boots for a 74? I guess I could go to a dealership and I will if I have too. I just cant seem to get mine to seal
all the way. I need new clamps and boots. I have been messing with them for so long that now I would just rather spend the dough and get it done!
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

If you look at the online dealers like Service Honda..
You should be able to get them for around $75 a set .. plus shipping.. Your local dealer will surely be more..

I get my boots from Z-1 Enterprises. As Tommy said, about $75 for new.
I was trying to find something I could put on them while still on the bike. It is running so good, I hate to pull them off. I was wondering about petroleum jelly. 2 bb |

2blackbelts ... You're saying that the boots on Samuri are cracked already..???
They haven't been on there that long have they..??? Do you remember if the boots you got were packaged as Genuine Honda parts..?? Or were they knockoffs...?? Thats not very long to have them go bad already....
