Member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Ok Folks, there's been at least 4 different posts on tube and lower combinations over the past few weeks. Lets use this string to finally identify how many different lowers and tubes there are for the SOHC 750. Here's a short list of what I'm aware of right off......post any information you have regarding tubes and lowers. AFTER we identify all the years and styles, we can focus on interchangability! PLEASE be sure the information is ACCURATE! 69-73 - Tubes (8 oil holes around perimeter near bottom, grooves for retainer rings) 69-73 - Tubes (same as above, but first groove is cut higher on the tube) 69-70 - lowers (not sure of the details) 69-73 - lowers (not sure of the details) 73-78 - Tubes (smooth all the way down with a taper near the bottom) length???? 73-75 - lowers (details???) 76SS - lowers (length???) 77-78 - lowers (details???)

In other words, an early '72 fork-set may be different than a late '72 set, and so on.

It might take a week or so while I round up all the bikes and their owners myself excluded (although I do sometimes have a tough time finding myself). It was Honda first, all through the middle, and if I have my way, till the end as well. Most people say what they'll do. Very few actually do what they say.

Posts: 1916 (05/06/08 1:37 PM) Senior Member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I'll take a stab at the '69-'70 K0 lowers: The tops of the '69 and most '70 K0's do not bulge at the top. Different size oil ring also. The small size rubber covers - not the gaitors - are smaller in size, I would guess. The TUBES and LOWERS were changed at the 1039120 frame which is a '70 K0. Changed towards the end of the K0 ('69-'70 built CB750's) run. K1's start at vin 1044650. So, 5000 or so K0's and all K1's have the larger oil ring and bulged tube/lowers. However, the '69-'72 parts book seems to indicate that the K0's and K1's (and NOT the 72's) tubes and lowers are interchangeable. The 72's might have a minor difference from the earlier tubes that does not affect fitment, I don't know. I have no experience with other than 69-70's. LRT says "69-71 tubes aren't secured from the bottom of the lower .. under the axle.. as the later ones all do .. Different mounting and dampening" I suspect that the '72 lowers might not work with the 69-71 tubes due to LRT's comment. Are they one year only wonders? The larger oil ring with associated bulge change was made by Honda to address oil leakage. "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."
